6 Tips How To Measure Bra Size

They only know that bra size consists of a number and a letter: the number represents the size of the band, and the letter represents the size of the cup. They don’t know that the number-letter combination is actually a fixed proportion between the cup size and the band size. I mean, the cup size of 32D bra is not the same size as the cup of 34D. In fact, 32D is wholly proportional to 36B or 34C. Think of it like a frame.

Besides, many women don’t know how to choose the correct bra for their breast size. Slimmer women should use a larger cup size, but larger women should use a smaller band size. Some women on diet also put this correct-bra-size-for-breast-size thingy. Gaining and losing weight also affects your breast size and, eventually, your bra size. Why do you consider resizing your clothing but not consider resizing your bra size?

Here are 6 bra size tips for your perfect breast.

1. Measure your band size

Use a tape measure all around your body just under your breasts. See the measurement in inches. Make sure you put your arms down. If it shows an odd number, try both bras below and above the number (i.e, 31 inches means you should try bra size 30 or 32). If it is an even number, then it’s okay. Don’t follow any advices to add four or five inches to the measurement because it is way too outdated and does not work modern bra size.

2. Decide your bra cup size

Every woman knows that breast sizes are different, but not many of them know that breast shapes are different too. Use your current bra size as a starting point to get the perfect cup size you need. Since cup size is relative to the band size, you shouldn’t use the same cup size with a smaller band size. Add one size to the cup size. For example, if you wear 34D bra but you measure your 28 inches all around your body, you should choose 28E or 28F. Don’t use 28D because it will be too tight. Follow UK cup sizing as a guide: AA, A, B, C, D, DD, E, F, FF, G, GG, H, HH, J, JJ, K, KK, L, and LL.

3. Now try it

You have measure your band size and choose your cup size. Now you try it. Is it the perfect bra size? Remember, don’t only pick one. Try several bras. Lengthen the shoulder traps and put your arms through them. Lean slightly forward so your breasts perfectly fall into the cups. Try to fasten the bra on the largest set of hooks and eyes, and if it feels too tight, release it and do it again on the smaller hooks and eyes. Wiggle the underwires side to side. Locate your breasts perfectly towards the centre of the cup.

4. Check your band size

The perfect breasts bra size is the smallest size you feel comfortable to wear. The important thing is, you have to be able to move your fingers inside the band tightly. Moreover, you should also be able to put your fist right where the hooks and eyes of the bra meet. Feeling like that the bra size is too tight? Don’t worry. In fact, bra is designed to fit like this. But, if you feel that it is way so tight that it hurts you, try to choose bigger cup size not bigger band size. If it still doesn’t work, then try to increase your band size and lower your cup size. In the opposite, if you feel that the band size you choose is too loose, you could straight using a larger band size. Remember: every time you use a larger band size, you have to choos the smaller cup size.

5. Check again the cup size

The perfect bra size is the one whose cup size is filled perfectly with your breasts. It doesn’t create any bulging in the front or the sides. Check the underwire and make sure the underwires are placed on your ribs. If they are not, then you should choose a larger cup size. Perfect cup size is important for perfect breasts, because it will hurt your armpit and back. If the underwires are so tight that it hurts your breastbone, you should opt for a smaller cup size. Otherwise, if you think the cup is too small (or if you are not sure with it), try bigger cup size. Smaller size usually fits better, so give it two or three trials.

6. See how it looks

Now you found your perfect bra size for your perfect breasts. See it on the mirror. Do you like the style? You can choose another style you like. Choose the right color so that the color of your bra won’t be seen through the shirt you use. After seeing yourself on the mirror, you should see that your bustline is placed on the right level. If it isn’t, then it actually is not a well-fit bra. Then, you need to repeat previous steps to find the perfect bra size for your breast.
